Nancy Wilson was born 20th February 1937 in Chillicothe. She was the daughter of Olden Wilson, an ironworker, as well as Lillian Ryan (a former housemaid). Nancy was the youngest of six kids. She was commissioned to sing in The Blue Morocco Night Club located in The Bronx and there was a place where Adderley's agent had seen her. He obtained a contract for the label Capitol Records in the year 1960. she debuted that year by releasing the single. Guess Who You Saw Today. Capitol issued 5 Nancy Wilson Albums in 2 years. Her first album was focused on R&B and then, with Adderley's influence, she started to take on jazz. The 1962 group collaboration of Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley led her to prominence as she released her biggest smash Tell Me the Truth in 1963. In the year following, this led to her getting booked in the New York's Coconut Grove - the top nightclub in America.
