Jazz singer Nancy Wilson a three-time Grammy Award winner was born on February 20 1937 in Chillicothe Ohio to iron-worker Olden Wilson, and former Lillian Ryan who worked as domestic helper. At first, she focused on rhythm and blues, under Adderley's influence, she began to move away from R&B as she embraced jazz and torch songs. Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley joined forces in 1962 and helped push her up the charts. By 1963 she achieved the biggest success by releasing Tell Me the Truth. In the following year, she was invited to perform in New York's Coconut Grove, the most famous nightclub in America.
