Nancy Wilson, a jazz singer and a three-time Grammy Award winner was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on 20 February 1937 to Olden Wilson, an ironworker. had been employed for a considerable time as housekeeper. Nancy Wilson was youngest child of six. Nancy was greatly influenced as a girl by the music her dad played and loved at her home. In her early years she was already able to establish an idea of her identity and what she wanted to do. The choir at church encouraged her to develop the talent. In 1956 she released her debut record in Rusty Bryant's Carolyn Club Big Band with which she toured between 1956 until 1958. Nancy made her debut album through Dot Records during the time she was with the group. Cannonball advised her to move to New York and go to The Big Town for the rest of her career. Adderley's Agent heard her in The Blue Morocco Night Club, Boston Road, The Bronx and she signed. Within a month of her arrival at New York City. The agent he was working with signed her up to Capitol in the year 1960. The year she made her debut was the same year. Guess Who I Saw today Capitol issued five Nancy Wilson records in just two years. Adderley encouraged her to shift away from R&B in favor of music that was more jazz-based and torch songs. Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley joined forces in 1962 and allowed her to climb in the chart. By 1963 she had the biggest success by releasing Tell Me the Truth.
